The Hidden Art Project - RE:CLAIM Festival

WHAT: “[RE:CLAIM] is a cultural festival themed around reclamation Socio-political upheavals and a fragmented social structure are leaving their mark on urban space - an impetus for [The Hidden Art Project] to use a central, empty shop space as a place of creative reappropriation in order to enter into an open dialogue and achieve a new status through conceptual works by local and international artists for diversity, self-development and collaborative togetherness.” (The Hidden Art Project, 2022)

PROJECT: [ROOMERS Installation]

The Roomers Project was an interactive installation in the heart of Oldenburg. A collaboration between artists in the fields of performing, digital and visual arts, the project served as an opportunity to share personal ideas and perceptions on the subject of -freedom of expression-.

"What about freedom (of expression) after two years of pandemic and in the middle of a war? We feel an imbalance in our coexistence. Our coexistence on a small scale (family / living together) as well as on a large scale (our society) is defined by a willingness to help and compromise, the discourse of different opinions and their acceptance, in order to enable the basis for communal living together. In many private and public discussions, the current situation shows a shift in these foundations of mutual interaction, which is mainly divided into two opposing camps.

The polarization of opinions, through differently perceived reports and knowledge bubbles, lead to a perceived restriction. Familiar relationships, friendships and family ties are endangered by a lack of acceptance of other views in their previous life together. This apparent and intolerable phenomenon of the "actual" state, was the basis for this interactive installation." (The Hidden Art Project, 2022)
